Human Cognition

Cognition refers to the processes by which we acquire and use knowledge: how we perceive information, attend to things in our environments, learn new concepts and skills, remember, use language, solve problems, make decisions, choose responses, and perform actions.

While the "cognitive sciences" are relative young, we nevertheless know a great deal about the processes that underly human thought.

Research findings relating to how we perceive, process, and use information provide valuable insights into how to design interfaces that are simpler, safer, and more efficient to learn and use. Here are some examples:
