Factors MD Invited to Speak at AAMI Conference on Human Factors & Medical

Tim Reeves, Managing Director of Human Factors MD
is among the featured speakers at this June's AAMI Conference, Human Factors,
Ergonomics, and Patient Safety for Medical Devices. This new AAMI conference
will bring together internationally recognized leaders in human factors (HF) and
patient safety, and was developed to meet the medical device industry's need for
a better understanding of human factors principles, standards, and regulatory
expectations. Tim will particpate in the session titled
Models for Human Factors Management & Education. Participants will
explore the various ways that a medical device manufacturer can implement a management
and accountability model for an human factors engineering program. Speakers will
discuss the "Internal Core Competency Group Model" (training in-house
personnel), The Outsourcing Model and what to look for in the external consultant,
and The Broker Model. Speakers will also discuss "selling" factors to
consider when presenting a model to management for approval and debate whether
a human factors certification program is of value to the medical device industry
and to the public. The conference will be held June 28-30
