
Our Team
The core Human Factors MD team consists of:
Tim Reeves, PhD CHFP
Tim is the Managing Director. He has 20 years of commercial experience evaluating and designing usable, effective, and safe medical software and devices. He has applied human factors principles and techniques to the research, design, and evaluation of medical technology across a wide range of clinical applications, and has worked closely with healthcare practitioners and patients to understand the issues confronting users of medical technology. Tim is a Certified Human Factors Professional and a member of the AAMI’s Human Factors Committee and Teaching Faculty. He has been an invited speaker at several events including the FDA/AAMI sponsored Human Factors and Patient Safety for Medical Devices and an upcoming IBC conference on Human Factors and Combination Products.
Robert Johnson, PhD
Robert is the Director, Product Evaluations. For the past 17 years he has contributed to the design and validation of numerous medical products. Throughout his career, Robert managed design verification, validation, and quality assurance teams and developed policies and best practices that guide the design, validation and risk management of products that meet various international medical standards (e.g., ISO 13485 and ISO 14971).
Vince Velocci, MSc
Vince is the Director, Interaction Design. Trained in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biomedical and Electrical Engineering, Vince has spent most of his professional career designing and evaluating medical software and devices.
Suzan Olson, PhD, MHS, RN
Suzan is a human factors psychologist and registered nurse who holds an advanced Master Black Belt in lean six sigma. She has more than 12 years experience conducting research in medical device, pharmaceutical (including combo products), and in-vitro diagnostics. Suzan has more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in journals and book chapters on topics ranging from human error and medical safety in dynamic systems, and ergonomics.
Aldous Silva
Aldous is the Director, Visual Design. He has 14 years experience as a visual design professional, including 11 years consulting with Human Factors MD. He has created highly-usable visual designs for software user interfaces for a wide range of medical applications ranging from hand-held mobile devices to high resolution touch screen workstations. Aldous’ design portfolio includes award-winning creative designs for print, web, and software user interfaces. His work has been featured in the Toronto Design Exchange.
Bob Williamson, BASc
Bob is an Interaction Designer. The most recent addition to the Human Factors MD team, Bob brings almost 20 years experience as a user experience designer, product architect, and process usability specialist. Bob is the author or co-author of several user interface design patents.
Melody Fox, RN, BSN
Melody is a Clinical Specialist. A nurse and diabetes educator, Melody brings a valued perspective to product evaluation and design projects.
Elise Dubois
Elise is a Project Facilitator. She helps Human Factors MD tick. She provides back room support and manages recruitment for user-based activities.
