
Our Team
The core Human Factors MD team consists of:
Tim Reeves, Ph.D., CHFP
Tim has 18 years of commercial experience evaluating and designing usable, effective, and safe medical software and devices. He has applied human factors principles and techniques to the research, design, and evaluation of medical technology across a wide range of clinical applications, and has worked closely with healthcare practitioners and patients to understand the issues confronting users of medical technology. Tim is a Certified Human Factors Professional, and a member of the AAMI’s Human Factors Committee, the HFES Healthcare Technical Group, and the Canadian Advisory Committee for IEC/TC62’s Standard for the Design of Medical Electrical Equipment (ISO 60601-1). He has been an invited speaker at several professional meetings, including the AAMI’s Human Factors and Patient Safety for Medical Devices.
Wayne Fisher, MA, CHFP
Wayne has over 20 years experience designing both technology solutions and work environments. He is a member of the Association of Canadian Ergonomists, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (US), and the Usability Professional Association, and is a Certified Human Factors Professional. He is also the co-author of a number of published papers on technology adoption and teaches courses in human factors at the Ontario College of Art and Design.
Robert Johnson, Ph.D.
For the past 15 years Robert has contributed to the design and validation of numerous medical products, mostly in the area of image assisted technologies. He has managed design verification and quality assurance teams and has developed policies that govern the design, validation and risk management of products that meet various standards (e.g., ISO 13485 and ISO 14971). Before joining Human Factors MD Inc in 2011, Robert was involved in developing policies to meet the 3Rd Edition of ISO 60601-1.
Bob Williamson, BASc
The most recent addition to the Human Factors MD team, Bob brings almost 20 years experience as a user experience designer, product architect, and process usability specialist. Bob is the author or co-author of several user interface design patents.
Aldous Silva
Aldous has 14 years experience as a visual design professional, including 8 years consulting with Human Factors MD. He has created highly-usable visual designs for software user interfaces for a wide range of medical applications ranging from hand-held mobile devices to high resolution touch screen workstations. Aldous’ design portfolio includes award-winning creative designs for print, web, and software user interfaces. His work has been featured in the Toronto Design Exchange.
